Gamescom Trailers

I told you there was going to be a lot of news coming from Gamescom and I was right. Most of it being new game trailers. Since it's pretty hard to write what's in a trailer I figured I'll do all the searching for you and post all the good ones here.

Fable III

Dragon Age: Origins

Battlefield Bad Company 2

Mass Effect 2

Need for Speed Shift

Batman Arkham Asylum

Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles

Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier

Brutal Legend

Heavy Rain

Uncharted 2

There are loads more but those are the good ones. Except for a few small announcements there wasn't anything too surprising announced today. The biggest announcement was that Final Fantasy XIV Online won't be shipped on the 360 at the same time as the PS3 and PC versions. Square Enix producer Hiromichi Tanaka said its because the Xbox Live policy is different from the internet but that they are in discussions with Microsoft on a way to bring it to the 360. Square Enix also announced that Final Fantasy XIII will be shipped on PS3 and 360 at the same time next year. It will be the same in every way except the 360 version will be on three different discs whereas the PS3 version, because of its Blue-ray disc, will only be on one. Another small announcement was from Bethesda, the creators of Fallout 3. They have a new project in the works that they will give more details on at an event in New York for there upcoming game WET. The last bit of surprising news is really a lack of news. What I mean is everyone expected to hear something from Microsoft about a 360 price drop however they haven't mentioned anything about it. This is probably because of the Sony PS3 redesign and price drop announcement that stole the show. Thats all the interesting news hope you enjoyed the trailers, I know I did.

On a side note, Microsoft, Bungie and GameStop have a nationwide promotion going on for their upcoming game Halo 3: ODST. What they are doing is a nationwide tour in a custom built ODST-inspired transport vehicle with eight Xbox 360 consoles and plenty of leg room. They will be going to 22-cities starting in Seattle and ending in New York. They will be letting people get in the transport vehicle to play Halo 3: ODST. Here are all the stops and dates.

Sony News From Gamescom

Most of the news from Gamescom so far is from Sony. The biggest is the confirmation of the rumors about the release of the PS3 Slim. The new PS3 Slim is the same as the original PS3 except its 32% smaller, 36% lighter, uses 34% less power, has a bigger 120GB hard drive and it only costs $299. It's better in every way. A little side note, you can go ahead and buy a PS3 for $299 if you can't wait for the slim to come out the first week in September, but I'd wait. Sony also announced a new firmware update which will change the Xross Media Bar to make it easier to navigate the PlayStation network and game menus. They've also added a small menu to the top right corner that displays the number of friends you have online, the number of messages you have, the date and time, and a scrolling news ticker. They've also made the background image more animated and dynamic . New themes will be the same, with more animation and interactivity. That's pretty much it for the PS3 but not for Sony.

Sony also had some announcements about the PSP Go. If you don't know what the PSP Go is, it's a smaller, redesigned PSP that is focused on down loadable games and will be out on October 1st. Sony introduced PSP Minis which will be a digital store on the PlayStation Network that sells down loadable games that are no larger then 100MB and could cost as little as a $1. Minis will be open the day the PSP Go launches and will have 15 games to start with and 50 games by the end of the year. Other small announcements from Sony are the Digital Comics feature for the PSP, which lets you read comics on your PSP. They also announced a ton of new movies and these aren't as old as the ones we're use to. They are also releasing loads of new game trailers, that are all over the web.

Real quick, it's not Sony news but I just found out about it and had to add it real fast. Lionhead Studios has officially announced Fable III will be coming out around the holidays in 2010. Fable II is one of my favorite games and I can't wait for Fable III but I hope this doesn't mean they are done with down loadable content for Fable II. We shall see. That's all for today but check back tomorrow for more Gamescom updates.

Randy Couture In EA Sports MMA

EA Sports has made it official, Randy Couture will be in the EA Sports MMA video game. There has been talk about this happening for awhile and no one was really sure. Now we know and its a big win for EA because Dana White, UFC president, is extremely against the EA MMA game. It makes sense because THQ released UFC 2009 Undisputed back in May which is the best MMA game to date but could probably be made better. Especially, since EA is not only the largest sports game publisher but the largest video game publisher period. So, Dana White wouldn't want compilation from another MMA game. It's even been said that he's threatened to ban any UFC fighter that participates in the game. So, does this mean that Randy Couture will never fight in the UFC again? Probably not, since Randy Couture is one of the few fighters that controls their likeness rights so he should be able to be in the EA MMA game and still fight in UFC. In fact, he is scheduled to fight Antonio Noguiera at UFC 102 on August 29. So, don't worry you will still see him kicking A** in the UFC ring. The real question is will EA be able to sell an MMA game thats missing some of the most popular MMA fighters or will they be able to talk Dana White into letting the UFC roster be in the game. No one knows but we shall see.

Is This The End Of Gaming?

Everyone is talking about the NPD reports which state that the gaming industry's sells of hardware have fallen 37%. Also, software sells have fallen 26% and accessories have fallen 12%. Some people are looking at this as a bad thing but not me. What is says to me is that most people already have consoles so they aren't buying anymore hardware. As for the software we all know that the summer is the slow season for gaming and the holiday season always brings the best games so we should see a huge rise in software sells. I'm sure Madden 10 has already helped those numbers since the study was done before Madden launched. If I'm wrong, and certainly could be, and these numbers do mean that less people are playing games all that means is those of us that still love them should get out there and buy everything we can afford.

The report also stated the number of sales on all consoles.
They are as follows: NintendoDS-538,900;
Nintendo Wii-252,500; Microsoft Xbox 360-202,900; Sony PSP-122,800; Sony PlayStation 3-121,800; Sony PlayStation 2-108,000. The only real story here is how close the Xbox 360 is to the Wii in sales. These numbers are for the year so far. Many other sources say that the Xbox at this time is outselling the Wii for the first time since 2007. No one is too sure why, but it might have something to do with the Wii not producing a lot of “great” games just good ones. Whereas the Xbox has not only been pumping out loads of good games but have many “great” titles out and many more coming soon.

As I was reading over this post I realized that I put a good deal of my opinion rather then news into this post and I'm sorry for that but it also gave me an idea. I want your opinion on the NPD reports. If you know something interesting about them that I didn't mention or you have something to say about what you read, please feel free to leave a comment. I also got the idea to ask you what's your favorite console and why? Please leave a comment and please visit DailyGamingNews4u again.

All Points Bulletin Beta!

Yesterday I told you about All Points Bulletin and how awesome its going to be and today I found out some really cool news about it. All Points Bulletin's beta will be opening to the public sometime soon. The details have not been announced but they have started taking request from people for access to it. I just finished requesting my access to the All Points Bulletin beta myself. From the questions, it looks like they are looking for people that play online games quite a bit and can devote a decent amount of time testing their game and that sure sound like me. Basically if you don't or can't play games regularly then you shouldn't try to get in to the All Points Bulletin beta. Everyone else try to get in as soon as possible. If your reading this between August 14-20 then you may have a good shot at making it. Any later, you can still try but no guarantees.

Here's what you do, click this link All Points Bulletin beta. Then answer the questions they ask honestly and that's it. Hopefully you will get an e-mail saying you've been accepted. It may not come right away, as I said before the date has not been set.
